Guardian Glass Honors Commercial Project Award Winners

Guardian Glass announced the winners of its fifth annual Commercial Project Awards on March 28 during a special event in Nashville. The company presented the awards to contract glaziers and fabricators of six commercial projects, selected from more than 50 recently completed projects nominated.

“Guardian Glass is privileged to recognize these outstanding commercial projects from our glazier and fabricator partners,” says Rick Zoulek, executive vice president. “Glaziers and fabricators play an integral role in taking an architect’s glass vision to reality, so we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with them on these amazing projects.”

Guardian adopted a new process for this year’s awards, grouping the projects based on location. The following projects were this year’s winners:

ASSA ABLOY Acquires JOTEC in Germany

ASSA ABLOY signed an agreement to acquire Jotec Service & Vertriebsges, a regional industrial door distributor and service company in Germany.

“I am very pleased to welcome Jotec into the ASSA ABLOY Group. The acquisition of Jotec delivers on our strategy to reinforce our current offering within entrance automation,” says Nico Delvaux, president and CEO of ASSA ABLOY.

The acquisition will be accretive to EPS from the start and is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions. It is expected to close during the second quarter of 2022.

Eastman Announces New Award for 2022

Eastman, manufacturer of the Vanceva® color interlayer system for laminated glass, announced a new award for the 2022 Vanceva World of Color Awards™ for exterior architecture and design. The Bernard Bühler Award is named after the French architect who developed multiple projects across France using Vanceva color PVB interlayers. Bühler will be a juror for the award, choosing the winner from all entries in the exterior category.

The winner will be announced with the results of the 2022 Vanceva World of Color Awards on September 21, 2022.

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope® Becomes a Standalone Enterprise

KPS Capital Partners LP (KPS), a global private equity firm, has completed its acquisition of Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope® (OBE), formerly a CRH company. KPS announced earlier this year it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire OBE from CRH plc for approximately $3.45 billion in cash through a newly formed affiliate (see related article, in the March 2022 USGlass, page 16).
