Steve Chen, COO for national manufacturer Crystal Window & Door Systems, was the honoree for St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children (St. Mary’s Kids) at the hospital’s Tribute Dinner on November 6. Nearly 300 leaders in the New York City regional construction and real estate industry joined Crystal and Chen at the gala affair. The fundraiser far surpassed its goal for the evening and raised more than $630,000 for the hospital.

“Crystal Windows and I are very proud to support St. Mary’s Kids and the services it provides children who face incredible health challenges,” says Chen. “I got involved with St. Mary’s after visiting the main hospital facility in Bayside several years ago, and I saw firsthand the dedicated care and hope the staff gives to patients and their families.”

The St. Mary’s Tribute Dinner was held at Guastavino’s by the 59th Street Bridge in Manhattan, a New York City landmark space. Guests were welcomed by St. Mary’s Kids president & CEO Dr. Edwin Simpser and The Reverend Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello. Board member and event co-chair Jeff Levine, president of Douglaston Development and Levine Builders, who has worked with Chen for many years, introduced the honoree.

Crystal and the Chen family have been actively involved in many Queens and New York-area non-profit and charitable organizations since the company started in 1990. In particular, Crystal focuses on educational and art initiatives, and organizations celebrating and preserving the cultural heritage of Taiwan.
