Workshop discussions will cover electrification, alternative fuels, energy efficiency, alternative glass formulations and glass circularity/recycling.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has invited glass manufacturers and raw material providers to participate in a glass decarbonization workshop. The workshop will take place May 16-17, 2024, at the Hyatt Pittsburgh International Hotel in Pittsburgh.

DOE’s Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office (IEDO) will host the event. During the workshop, DOE officials will provide an overview of IEDO and share its vision, strategy and available resources to support innovations to improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint across U.S. manufacturing operations.

Officials say the workshop will include a handful of technical talks and several breakout sessions involving interactive discussion. A detailed agenda will be posted at a later date. The workshop will start the morning of May 16 and end by 12:30 p.m. on May 17. Discussions will cover electrification, alternative fuels, energy efficiency, alternative glass formulations and glass circularity/recycling.
