Firestone Building Products Co. LLC announced its Salt Lake City manufacturing facility has reached the milestone of working one million man-hours without a lost-time accident.

“At Firestone, safety is more than a goal; it’s an integral part of our commitment to making our company a premier place to work for our teammates,” says Jason Lakatos, Salt Lake City plant manager. “Our teammates reached this achievement by working together to ensure the highest level of safety for one another in the workplace. They should all be proud of what they have accomplished.”

According to the company, Firestone’s safety program includes training, evaluation of basic systems, internal audits and continuous improvement. Additionally, daily, monthly and quarterly meetings focus on workplace safety and process safety management.

The Salt Lake City plant, which produces flat and tapered insulation for roofing systems, has been recognized in the past with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Voluntary Protection Program Star status for performance in worker health and safety.
