The employees of Gateway Extrusions, an aluminum extrusion and finishing manufacturer serving the construction and fenestration industries, recently teamed up with other manufacturers to provide much needed supplies for the local Union Food Pantry. Gateway’s neighboring manufacturer, Buddeez, reached out to companies in the West Park Road industrial center to organize a collection for the Union Food Pantry and Gateway employees joined the effort.

Altogether, the drive collected hundreds of dollars’ worth of food and personal hygiene items for the food center.

“Gateway employees have a long history of stepping up to help local organizations, charities and causes in our community,” said Victoria Mennillo, HR manager. “When the Union Food Pantry put out the call for donations, our employees were glad to assist. With neighboring manufacturers Buddeez, Silgan Plastic Food Containers and Children’s Factory, we donated supplies to help restock the shelves at this critical community resource.”

The Union Food Pantry has 40 regular volunteers and is open twice-weekly to serve the residents of Union, Mo., most in need.

Gateway and its employees have been actively involved in the community since the company was established in 2003. Among its many outreach activities spearheaded by employees are an annual coat drive, donations of materials for upgrading a local animal shelter, and using Gateway’s 3-D printing capabilities to make and donate thousands of face mask extenders for healthcare workers during the height of the pandemic.

“Our employees live in this community, they care about their neighbors, and Gateway is glad to support their outreach,” said Mennillo. “As one of the larger local employers, we want to provide not only a great work environment, but also to be a great partner with our community.”
