While joining your fellow colleagues at the 2017 Glass Expo Northeast™ (GENE), taking place March 30-31 at the Hilton Long Island/Huntington Hotel, why not stay the weekend and discover all that beautiful Huntington, N.Y., has to offer. This town is rich with history for enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike.

geneFor example, there’s the Coltrane Home, which is where the late American jazz musician John Coltrane lived out the remaining days of his life and composed several of his greatest works.

You’ll also want to check out the Nathan Hale Monument, which is a tribute to his sacrifice and undercover intelligence gathering of the British forces during the Revolutionary War.

There is also the historic place now known as The Arsenal, the home of Job Sammis who also aided the militia during the Revolutionary War by storing gunpowder in his attic.

And finally, there is the Huntington Lighthouse, formally known as the Lloyd Harbor Lighthouse located in Huntington Bay on Long Island. Facing deterioration and demolition, the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society Inc. (formerly, Save Huntington’s Lighthouse Inc.) was formed to restore, preserve and maintain the historic lighthouse.
