Get ready to lace up your running shoes and join us for the glass industry’s first ever virtual 5K! The Run for Glass VE 5K is part of GlassCon Global VE and Glass Expo VE, taking place virtually September 9-10, 2020. It is co-sponsored by the Finishing Contractors Association International and USGlass magazine.

GlassCon Global VE-Glass Expo VE is an inaugural virtual event for the architectural glass, metal, and fenestration industries, combining the GlassCon Global educational program with the Glass Expos, all in one virtual event.

In addition to the ground-breaking seminars and interactive virtual spaces, the event will also offer several additional activities for socializing and networking, including the Run for Glass VE 5K, which is open to both runners and walkers.

Run for Glass VE 5K participants may run or walk and will receive an authentic race medal, t-shirt and downloadable race bib. The Run for Glass VE 5K registration is separate from GlassCon Global VE-Glass Expo VE and is $35. All profits from Run for Glass VE 5K will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

“When we began working on plans for Glass Expo VE, we knew we wanted it to be something unlike other virtual events, and to offer participants additional activities so that it would feel more like a live event,” says Holly Biller, vice president of digital media services for Key Media & Research, parent company of USGlass magazine. “Since we know there are many people in the industry who enjoy both running and walking, we decided that offering a virtual 5K as an option would be a fun and healthy extracurricular activity.”

Virtual race events have seen increased popularity this year in light of many race cancelations due to COVID-19. Taking part in one of these events is a great way to stay motivated and active. Runners and walkers simply go out and complete the designated distance, in the case of a 5K that’s 3.1 miles, then log their time on the event site. All materials are mailed in advance directly to the registered participants.

“We are excited to bring this event to the industry and to also support St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital,” adds Biller.

In addition to the virtual 5K, several other virtual networking activities are planned. These include a virtual wine tasting the evening of September 9 and morning meditation on the morning of September 10, among others.
