The level of participation in this year’s upcoming glasstec exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany shouldn’t be a concern when the event kicks off October 21, as registration numbers are projected to be “on par” with the previous event in 2012.

“We’re delighted by the great response to glasstec 2014, especially with the economic situation in the flat-glass sector and partially also in the mechanical-engineering sector being rather tense at the moment,” says deputy managing director of Messe Düsseldorf Hans Werner Reinhard. “The fact that companies continue to count on glasstec, particularly in challenging times, underscores the event’s extraordinary significance.”

2012’s version of the trade fair hosted 1,175 companies representing glass engineering, glass manufacturing and glass crafts, with a majority of those companies coming from outside of Germany.

The exhibitor will also include “glass technology live,” a special show featuring products to emerge in the coming years. The main topic of the show will be “Intelligent Glass.” A high-caliber symposium, featuring speakers from leading research institutes, associations, companies and architecture firms, will accompany the show and will cover a different theme each day.
