While fewer industry companies choose to exhibit at Greenbuild compared to some other architectural trade shows, those who do say being a part of the show serves a unique purpose. For many glass and glazing industry companies, this show remains an important event. The Greenbuild 2016 International Conference and Expo, which is organized by the U.S. Green Building Council, opened today at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Marc Deschamps with Walker Glass says Greenbuild is quite significant for the glazing industry as it raises the level of awareness about sustainable solutions that architects and designers consider and specify in their projects.

Walker Glass, a fabricator of acid-etched glass, is highlighting its bird-friendly glazing solutions during the show.

“Our presence as exhibitors is very important to educate the trade and the architectural community on the risks associated with bird collisions to exterior glazing structures and on appropriate solutions combining daylighting, occupants view to the exterior and visual markers for birds,” says Deschamps.

Mark Mitchell with Major Industries agrees that being a part of the show allows his company to meet a need in the industry to provide knowledge and education about products and trends.

“Greenbuild is important because the designers/architects that attend are committed to utilizing daylighting products and making the most of them,” he says. “They are interested in new technologies and product improvements.”

The show is also important for companies like C.R. Laurence, which is also exhibiting this week.

“Greenbuild presents a great platform to facilitate the sustainable design dialogue, and any relevant manufacturer of fenestration/façade systems needs to be a part of this important conversation,” says Andrew Haring, vice president of marketing “We’re proud to represent the glazing industry at the expo and advocate the integral role glass can play in daylight optimization and overall building performance.”

The Greenbuild Expo runs October 5-6, with the conference taking place through October 7. Stay tuned to USGNN.com™ for more news from the show.
