Grenzebach broke ground recently on its new production facility in Iași, Romania, the second-largest city in the country.
The company says that the new facility will provide additional production areas for glass, building material and intralogistics sectors along with areas for future developments and service. The facility is scheduled to be completed in fall 2023.
The groundbreaking comes as the demand for glass and building products in Europe increases.
“We see our Romanian location as a perfect base for technological developments,” says CEO Steven Althaus. “And as the ideal response to the growing demand from our core markets as a further production and development center.”
The facility is located adjacent to Grenzebach’s current location. The company says that the structure is part of a comprehensive reorganization concept for the Iași location. Alongside the new production hall, the existing factory building is being modernized to conform to today’s efficiency and sustainability requirements.
“With this addition and modernization, we show our commitment to the business location of Iași, the region and Romania,” says managing director Moritz Ückert. “We see our Romanian location as a perfect base for technological developments. And as the ideal response to the growing demand from our core markets as a further production and development center.”
Grenzebach states that the new facility will create more than 100 jobs.
