Guardian Glass and the Velux Group have partnered to develop manufacturing processes and capabilities to meet the growing demand for vacuum-insulating glass (VIG).

Guardian officials said that with the partnership, the companies will use their technical teams, intellectual property and additional tools to advance tempered VIG technology.

“We are pleased to enter into this agreement with Guardian Glass,” said Velux CEO Lars Petersson. “Glass is a key material in Velux roof windows, and we are keen to investigate together with Guardian how to advance its capabilities and integrate this into our products to benefit our customers.”

Guardian Industries president Ron Vaupel added that Velux’s expertise in high-volume fabrication of window systems makes it an ideal partner for making VIG technology available to a broader market.
