HarbisonWalker International (HWI), a U.S. supplier of refractory products and services, will construct a new monolithic refractories manufacturing facility in South Point, Ohio.

Groundbreaking for the new plant is expected in early summer 2017, and it will be operational by early 2018, according to a release from the company. The facility will be built at The Point Industrial Park.

“Unlike any other location, The Point offers unique transportation, logistics and business amenities that combine to create an ideal and cost-effective match for the requirements of our new facility,” says Douglas Hall, senior vice president of HarbisonWalker’s integrated supply chain department. “The intermodal transportation features at The Point will ensure efficient delivery of raw materials from nearby suppliers and finished products to customers. The site offers efficiencies that are simply not possible elsewhere.”
