The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) announced the release of a new Vacuum Insulating Glass Technical Bulletin. The bulletin is intended to assist residential or commercial insulating glass and window manufacturers on the topic of vacuum insulating glazing (VIG).

“We feel it is very important to offer this document to the global IG industry,” says Marg Webb, IGMA executive director. “Many manufacturers are looking to incorporate VIG and our purpose was to give them the proper tools to accurately determine the benefits of VIG systems.”

VIG has drawn attention over the past several years as it offers performance approaching a well-insulated wall, but with two layers of glass, according to IGMA. The uptick in attention prompted the alliance to work on the bulletin with several of its members.

“We had strong representation from the global VIG community, contributing many hours to create this document,” says Dave Cooper of Guardian Industries Corp, chair of the VIG task group. “It is a nice primer to VIG and its intended usage.”

The bulletin is available to the public for $30 on the IGMA website at IGMA members in good standing will receive a complimentary copy as a benefit of their membership.

Registration for this year’s IGMA Fall Technical Conference, to be held in downtown Denver October 5-8 at the Brown Palace, may be found on the IGMA website at
