Entrepreneur Magazine recently released its list of the top 500 franchises for 2016, and some companies that offer commercial glass and/or shower door services made the final cut.

The Glass Guru, which sells shower enclosures in addition to glass replacement and scratch repair, came in at No. 300. Glass Doctor, which also provides commercial services, settled in at No. 441.

According to Entrepreneur.com, franchisor submissions were initially narrowed down to 951 companies, which represented the “first cut.” Of those, the top 500 were determined, based on financial and statistical data from July 2013-July 2015.

“All companies are judged by the same criteria: objective, quantifiable measures of a franchise operation,” according to Entrepreneur.com. “The most important factors include financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of the system. We also consider the number of years a company has been in business and the length of time it’s been franchising, startup costs, litigation, percentage of terminations and whether the company provides financing. Financial data is analyzed by an independent CPA.”

The Glass Guru, founded in 2004, is listed as having 88 locations in North America. Total investment for franchisees ranges from $32,190 to $122,490, with a franchise fee of $15,000 to $65,000. The royalty fee is 5 percent, and financial requirements for liquid cash range from $30,190 to $130,000. The company was ranked No. 234 in 2015, which was its highest ever ranking on the list.

“The announcing of the Franchise 500 list has become an annual milestone, helping energize The Glass Guru team as we embark on the New Year,” says Sean Young, director of corporate development at The Glass Guru. “2016 is no different. With a brand new office for the company’s North American headquarters, a continued store-by-store growth trend, and a significant increase in the interest in the company’s franchise opportunities, things continue to look great for The Glass Guru.”

Glass Doctor, founded in 1962, is listed as having 167 locations. That number has decreased each year since 2011, and it saw its highest ranking in 2012 at No. 163. Currently, initial investment for franchisees ranges from $109,300 to $278,500, with a franchise fee of $32,500. The royalty fee is 5 to 7 percent, and financial requirements for liquid cash range from $45,000 to $50,000.

“Making the Entrepreneur Franchise 500 is always an honor,” says Glass Doctor president Mark Liston. “What excites me, however, is the consistency that Glass Doctor has had over the years in making this list. Oftentimes we see companies who are hot one year and make the list, then flame out fairly quickly. Glass Doctor is consistently ranked, which I think says a lot about how we operate.”
