Kingspan Insulated Panels North America has moved into an expanded headquarters in DeLand, Florida. The company unveiled the updated facility in mid-April, announcing that the 29,000-square-foot retrofit and expansion retains much of the existing structure, while upgrading the building envelope and interior spaces to optimize efficiency.
Company officials say the renovations include new office areas, break rooms, shared workstations and an updated client experiential space. The facility houses more than 21,000 square feet of insulating metal wall panels and 30,000 square feet of insulating metal roof panels, along with Kingspan façade, insulation, skylights and ductwork solutions.
“Our DeLand headquarters is more than an office,” says Alswinn Kieboom, president of Kingspan Insulated Panels North America. “It is a physical representation of Kingspan’s commitment to advancing building performance, reducing environmental impact and showing customers, partners and the broader industry how sustainability can come to life in any project.”
Officials add that the building upgrades were selected to emphasize lower embodied carbon and increased circularity.
Kingspan retained and reused major portions of the existing structure and recycled project materials, including 84,680 pounds of sheetrock, 1.3 million pounds of asphalt and 900,000 pounds of concrete from the site. It also donated 3,000 ceiling tiles removed during renovation to local Daytona-area businesses damaged by hurricanes. Around 99% of construction waste was diverted from landfill, either getting recycled, reused or donated.
Officials say with the updates, Kingspan is targeting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design v4 BD+C Gold Certification and the International Living Future Institute Net Zero Carbon + Energy Certification.
