KL megla Architectural is neither receiving nor issuing quotes or processing purchase orders at this time. The company announced in an email to customers that it’s ceasing these sales services temporarily. The pause in service began Monday, August 12, 2019.

While the company is not taking any new orders, “all fabrication work orders and hardware purchase orders will be fulfilled by their quoted lead times,” according to the email.

“We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any difficulties this may cause in your immediate supply lines,” said KL megla Architectural CEO Matt Roe in the email, adding that the company is unable to issue an exact date of continuance.

The statement also explained that as a subsidiary of a global company “we are being integrated into a larger global strategy which will require us to pause in our singular focal domestic growth plan.”

KL megla established its U.S. subsidiary, KL megla America, in Los Angeles in 2008. In 2012, the company founded KL megla Architectural in Ft. Madison, Iowa. This was a year after the company purchased the assets of Custom Hardware Manufacturing Inc. (CHMI), which was based in nearby Keokuk, Iowa. CHMI closed in late 2009 due to financial insolvency. KL megla Architectural’s manufacturing facility is based in Montrose, Iowa.

John Pleasants, owner of Glass Innovations in Fishersville, Va., has been a longtime customer of CHMI and, later, KL megla. Pleasants says the company has “top-notch hardware,” but that it could be difficult for customers to justify spending additional money for higher quality.

His company attempted to place an order this month for three glass doors that required KL megla’s pivot hinges, but hadn’t heard back from anyone at the company. Pleasants says he contacted Roe who agreed to put in the custom order despite the company’s temporary pause.

“They’ve been very accommodating,” he says, adding that his experience with the company has been positive.

It is unclear at this time if the company plans to continue operations at a later date or if any staff have been impacted by the temporary halt in order intake. Neither KL megla Architectural nor KL megla GmbH have responded to requests for comment as of press time.
