Jeffrey Voigt

Major Industries Inc., manufacturer of skylights, canopies and translucent wall systems, recently announced a number of organizational changes and promotions.

Jeffrey Voigt has been promoted to vice president of operations. He is a native of the Wausau, Wis., area, and a 1997 graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Voigt joined Major Industries in 1999 as a contract administrator, where he negotiated construction contracts with commercial contractors, including M.A. Mortenson, Turner Construction, Miron, Boldt and others. He was promoted to business operations manager in August 2002, and has been Major’s director of operations for the past 15 years.

Rick Towne

In his new role, Voigt will have greater authority to define interdepartmental procedures, resolve internal issues and authorize financial expenditures with the overall goal of positioning Major Industries for continued growth, according to the company.

Rick Towne has been promoted to director of information services. Along with facilitating the development of companywide systems and improving communication between departments, he will also assume oversight of the information systems and technology department.

During Towne’s 20-year career at Major, he has worked as an accountant and was later promoted to accounting manager.

Jason Weber

Major also promoted Jason Weber to director of manufacturing. He began at Major in the sales department, later becoming an assistant plant manager and, since 2016, has been Major’s plant manager. Weber also has experience as a project manager, handling large-scale projects around the country, according to the company. As plant manager, he had a direct role in improving on-time delivery and product quality, according to the company, and will continue this focus in his new capacity as director of manufacturing, while also assuming oversight of the drafting and new product development departments.

Jeff Wirkus is being promoted to technical support manager. Over the last 33 years, Wirkus helped Major Industries grow by applying his drafting skills, providing sales estimates, working with vendors, fabricating parts, overseeing quality control and plant management, according to the company.

In recent years, he has focused on compliance issues, customer service, installer training, product development and testing, maintaining state and federal certifications, and coordinating plant safety programs. In his new role, Wirkus will continue to focus on customer satisfaction, using his expertise to provide technical support, review code requirements and testing procedures and assist in developing new products.
