“I received a call just before I started typing this week’s blog (about 7:45 p.m. on September 8) and was asked if I had seen an article in yesterday’s Wall Street Journal discussing the apparent pending glass shortage. I used to subscribe to the WSJ, but when my subscription lapsed about a month ago, I did not renew. I like the publication, but I can only read so much, and I found that a lot of what appeared in the WSJ was covered in the Chicago Tribune, which I read very thoroughly every day. Yes, certain business items are often in the WSJ and not the Tribune, but between the Tribune and the three business magazines I get, I feel that I am pretty well informed. But enough on my reading practices and back to the story.”—Lyle R. Hill
