Portfolio Company Banner Solutions Acquires Specialized Builder’s Hardware

Banner Solutions, a High Road Capital Partners’ (HRCP) portfolio company, is continuing to grow in the hardware market with the acquisition of Specialized Builder’s Hardware’s (SBH) assets. This marks the company’s fifth acquisition under High Road Capital’s ownership.

Based in Anaheim, Calif., SBH is a regional distributor of door locks and hardware, as well as electronic access solutions for the commercial market.

Banner Solutions was acquired by High Road Capital Partners Fund II in February 2017. The acquisition of SBH follows those of Midwest Wholesale Hardware, Akron Hardware, Berg Wholesale, Hardware Suppliers Inc. and Strauss Lock Distributors.

“SBH’s strength in the Southern California market broadens Banner Solutions’ geographic presence, adding customers in the education, government, healthcare, hospitality and multifamily residential industries,” says Scott Rubino, HRCP principal. “In addition, SBH brings a highly technical sales force which will integrate well with Banner Solutions’ industry-leading customer service.”

SBH president Terry Olson adds, “Banner Solutions is known industry-wide for its commitment to service, innovation and products. We’re proud to join with Banner Solutions and provide SBH customers with access to an extensive inventory and additional expert resources.”

Olson will lead the legacy SBH organization. Management and the sales and support organizations will remain.

The acquisition closed on August 23, 2019. HRCP has completed 56 transactions since its founding in 2007.

AIG Acquires Tennessee Glass Wholesalers

American Insulated Glass LLC (AIG), a glass fabricator and wholesale distributor, has acquired the assets of Tennessee Glass Wholesalers (TGW), a privately held glass distributor located in Knoxville, Tenn. This purchase agreement is designed to expand the AIG footprint, according to the company.

In June 2019, the company opened a sales office in Knoxvile and hired glass industry professionals Bill Evers and Steve Brisbane with the intention of opening a new fabrication facility. This acquisition will accelerate AIG’s ability to service customers in East Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia. Initially, this facility will furnish stock glass and residential insulating glass,  supporting the Knoxville service area with the company’s full range of glass solutions—including commercial insulating glass, custom tempered glass and laminated glass from Atlanta and Charlotte.

“The AIG team is well-known in this market and we simply could not be more pleased to be moving into a physical location in Knoxville this soon and we look forward to serving glazing contractors that we have dealt with for many years with a broader range of high-performance and custom glass solutions,” says Billy Blair, AIG president and CEO.
