DCI Group, the parent company of MyGlassTruck (MGT), has purchased new fabrication technology for its Glassboro, N.J., facility. According to MGT officials, the machines will shorten lead times and reduce delays due to parts and material shortages.

Michael Mroczek, Demountable Concepts’ creative lead, says the new technology can make more intricate cuts and bends, which leads to better-quality products.

DCI Group, the parent company of MyGlassTruck (MGT), has purchased new fabrication technology for its Glassboro, N.J., facility.

“It is critical to the lifeblood of manufacturers to invest in technology,” adds MGT president Rustin Cassway. “This funding allowed us to secure three pieces of metal fabricating equipment that will not only support operational efficiencies for us but will also help lower our energy consumption and shrink our carbon footprint.”

The investments include a Messer FiberBladeV high-speed computer numerical control (CNC) laser cutter and an Xpert Pro 250-ton sheet metal bending machine by Bystronic. The company also added a robotic welding machine to produce components for its Demountable truck bodies. Mroczek says the machines aren’t the first to be installed in the facility. The company has had automated machines, such as a CNC plasma cutter, but they are not as advanced as the new ones.

As a result of the new technology, MGT is capable of fabricating new products in-house. These products include roof rack mounts, bulkheads and step bumpers.

“The advantage comes from making those parts better and quicker than the competition,” says Mroczek. “For example, we could redesign our roof rack brackets by reducing the components needed to build them. That being said, the new equipment opens up future innovation possibilities.”
