Gene Gaskins, founder of Nashville Tempered Glass in Nashville, Tenn., passed away on November 23. He was 81 years old.

“Gene was a loved and respected member of our team, one who took great pride in his family, friends and employees, he will be greatly missed,” says Nashville Tempered Glass vice president Glen E. Kreitzer.

According to The Tennessean, he is preceded in death by his parents Erma and Omer Gaskins, son Grant Matthew Gaskins and brother James Gaskins. He is survived by his wife Sara Gaskins, daughter Gigi Marie Gaskins, son Gavin Michael Gaskins, stepson William Craig Hayes and stepdaughter Amy Elizabeth Hayes, as well as two grandchildren and two brothers.

“Gene enjoyed the glass industry, traveling to international glass shows in Italy and Germany many times to keep abreast of new technology,” his obituary reads. “He considered himself very fortunate to have work he loved and always felt that having work that one loves, was pleasure, not work.”

  1. Very sad reading this, from France and Switzerland, I met Gene and Gavin 30 years ago when we installed furnaces for Nashville tempered glass back in 1991…I often think about you guys, the greatest years. RIP. Antoine Pierre.
