Ric Schmidt is the new president of Viprotron North America. Schmidt takes the reins following more than 10 years in the glass industry. Schmidt will also focus on building both the sales and service departments.


GED Integrated Solutions (GED) announced two internal promotions in the project management and vinyl engineering groups. Tom Boser moved into the new role as a project manager in the sales application department. He has16 years of experience with GED as a machine assembler.

Tyler Kraft also recently joined the project management team. He will serve as a project manager in the sales application department. Kraft joined GED while completing a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Akron.

In addition, Anny Lin joined GED in 2019 as a manufacturing process engineer. She has a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Akron and is a current MBA student at Kent State University. In April, she took on a new role as a mechanical engineer in the engineering department.

American Insulated Glass

American Insulated Glass LLC announced the promotions of Dan Dirmeyer and Vitaliy Besman. Dirmeyer, who previously served as general manager for AIG Michigan, was promoted to director of operations for the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest operations. Besman assumes the general manager position.

Dirmeyer has been with AIG since 2018. Following AIG’s acquisition of Great Lakes Glass Distributors, Dirmeyer continued to manage daily operations and proceeded to play a significant role in the growth of the Detroit-based location. Besman previously served as plant manager, where he played an expansive role during the Detroit expansion.



George “Bruce” McCord has retired from General Glass International.

McCord was with GGI for more than 20 years, starting as a sales representative. He was promoted multiple times over his tenure with the company and held roles such as territory sales manager, manager of technical glass products and product sales manager. Most recently, McCord was sales manager for the Northern territory, handling fabrication, distribution, picture frame and specialty glass accounts.

New Hires

Vitro Architectural Glass

Trevor Hall is the new national architectural manager for Vitro Architectural Glass serving southern California, Las Vegas, Arizona, New Mexico and Hawaii. Previously, Hall was an architectural sales representative for Daltile, and a sales representative for MicroMed Inc./Arthrex.


Erdman Automation Corp. welcomed Brian Ludwig as its South Central North America sales manager. Ludwig has 28 years experience in fenestration and building products. Previously, he was a territory sales manager for Quanex Building Products.

Comings and Goings


Unicel Architectural Corp. appointed Vincent Couturier and Samuel Doyon-Bissonnette as co-presidents. The two previously completed a successful management buyout transaction in 2020.


PGT Innovations

Lynn Miller, PGT Innovations code compliance manager, was appointed chairperson of the ASTM International impact-resistance task group. Miller will chair the task group that oversees the development of the ASTM E1886 and E1996 standards, global standards that set the criteria for performance of exterior windows, curtainwalls, doors and impact protective systems affected by windborne debris in hurricanes.
