Nicole Rubio, marketing coordinator for Key Media & Research (KMR), the parent company of USGlass magazine and the USGNN™ newsletter, received the company’s 2022 Award for Extraordinary Service. The honor is presented annually and was named after KMR’s president Holly X. Biller, who has been with the company for 27 years and epitomizes the definition of extraordinary service to the industry and the company.

W. A. Wilson & Sons

Tim Moore, vice president of process engineering at W. A. Wilson & Sons in Wheeling, West Va., was recognized with the C. Gregory Carney Award during the National Glass Association’s (NGA) Annual Conference. The award has been presented since 2014 to an individual dedicated to advancing glass and glazing, promoting its use, and advocating what is right for the industry. The NGA also recognized several other member volunteers during the conference. They include Rob Carlson with Tristar Glass; Marc Deschamps with Walker Glass; Jon Griggs with Guardian Glass; Kayla Natividad with Pilkington North America; and Julia Schimmelpenningh with Eastman Chemical.


Permasteelisa Group

Permasteelisa Group has named Liam Cummins its new CEO. Cummins replaces Klaus Lother, who has been with the company for more than 30 years. Lother will remain as a non-executive director of the Group’s holding company. Cummins spent more than 16 years at Laing O’Rourke as a senior executive. He has led projects and businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

Groves Inc.

Kris Thune is the new president of Groves Inc. following unanimous approval from the company’s board of directors. Thune has spent more than 30 years as vice president of operations and helped establish one of the glass and stone markets’ most well-known brands and remained a strategic advisor to the company.

Sunshine Rooms

Ron Kastner was named the president of Sunshine Rooms Inc. Kastner assumes the role following a three-year stint as the company’s chief operating officer (COO). He previously served as vice president of operations at Red Guard and was the COO at Pixius for more than a decade.


Glassfab Tempering Services

Glassfab Tempering Services promoted Rob Gardner-Black to president. Gardner-Black joined Glassfab in 2015 as an operations manager and became vice president of operations.

“Gardner-Black has played a vital role in the growth of Glassfab over the past several years,” reads a statement from the company. “Rob’s incredible work ethic in getting the job done has produced superior results, developed stronger customer relationships, and helped build our next generation of Glassfab leaders.”


AkzoNobel Industrial Coatings appointed Jim Kavanagh as its managing director.

Kavanagh will be responsible for several sectors, including coil and extrusion coatings, packaging coatings, wood finishes and wood adhesives. Kavanagh joined AkzoNobel in 1990 as a developmental chemist in its protective coatings business.

Furthermore, Nils Andersen announced that he will step down as chair and member of the company’s supervisory board. He says that he has accepted a new board position outside of the company and will leave following the company’s annual general meeting in April 2023. AkzoNobel plans to announce a successor at that time.

Vitro Architectural Glass

Vitro Architectural Glass announced organizational updates to its Marketing and Innovation division. Those moving to new or expanded roles include
Fernando Diez, Emily Losego, Robert Struble and Wendy Carroll.

Diez was promoted to the newly created position of director of marketing. He will lead initiatives across the U.S., Canada and Latin American regions. Losego was promoted to another newly created role, director of commercial segment innovation. Struble was promoted to director of Brand and Innovation. He will continue to handle all brand and communications responsibilities. Carroll will continue as product manager for tints/low-iron products and was promoted to an expanded role as best practice and product


Architectural Glass and Metal Certification Council

The Architectural Glass and Metal Certification Council (AGMCC) named six new board members for 2023. The AGMCC and its board oversee the North American Contractor Certification and Architectural Glass and Metal Technician programs. The new members are Dana Landis, Michael Laughlin, Patrick McIntyre, Jeremy McLain, Kyle Sharp and Mike Villeneuve.

New Hires

Naverra Glass

Norwich, Conn.-based Naverra has hired Leigh Anne Mays as senior account manager for the New England market. Mays joins the company with significant experience in the glass industry, including 10+ years at Guardian Glass North America.

Virginia Glass Products

Jessica Brooks has joined Virginia Glass Products/Virginia Mirror Co. as Southeast regional sales manager. Brooks will primarily operate in eastern Tennessee, southern South Carolina and Georgia. Brooks arrives with nearly a decade of experience in the contract glazing field.
