Thomas Taitano, Giroux Glass

Giroux Glass Inc. announced the unexpected passing of Thomas Santiago Taitano on April 13. He was 53.

As a recent arrival from Guam, Taitano was one of the first employees hired to launch Giroux Glass’ expansion into Nevada in 2003. During his 19-year career with the company, he successfully contributed to hundreds of projects that shaped the local glazing landscape, including landmarks such as the Pechanga Resort Casino, Resorts World Las Vegas and MSG Sphere at The Venetian. Taitano is survived by his mother and aunt, ten siblings, and seven children.

Fritz Stotmeister, Sto Corp.

Fritz Stotmeister, the founder of Sto, a global manufacturer of building façade materials with U.S. operations based in Atlanta, passed away on April 21, 2022, at 94.

“His personality shapes the company’s values to this day: a personal interaction based on mutual help, respect, and discipline. He loved the company and its employees very much,” a company press release said.

Ed Mitchell

Edward E. “Sonny” Mitchell, 83, former West Coast sales manager for USGlass magazine and other Key Media & Research (KMR) publications, passed away peacefully in late December 2021. Mitchell was born in The Philippines, and attended Loyola High and University. He retired from USGlass and KMR in 2012.

“Working with Ed Mitchell for more than ten years at KMR was an absolute joy,” says Lisa Naugle, Midwest sales manager at KMR. “His 6-foot-8-inch frame was a perfect fit for his larger-than-life personality. Always one to greet you with a beaming smile and big hug, his presence lit up the room during our sales meetings and at industry trade shows.”

She adds, “Ed loved people and sharing his colorful stories-his unique tales of a life well-lived. I’m honored to have known him and to call him my friend.”

Holly Biller, KMR’s vice president of media services, adds, “Ed was always full of colorful stories, quick with a laugh and pleasantly charming. He was the quintessential salesman and a joy to work with. His sunny disposition will certainly be missed.”


Vitro Architectural Glass

Vitro Architectural Glass appointed Jemssy Alvarez as product manager for advanced glazing. He will be responsible for product and market development for advanced glazing products, including the Solarvolt™ Building Integrated Photovoltaic glass system.

Alvarez holds bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland and business from National-Louis University, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He also earned executive certificates from the Sloan School of Management at MIT and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.

General Glass International

General Glass International (GGI) announced the promotion of Donna Casaliggi to director of operations at its Avenel, N.J., location. Casaliggi first joined GGI in 1987, working in accounting and data processing before being promoted to MIS manager. She is the second generation in her family to work for GGI; her mother, Lonna Casaliggi, was the executive assistant to David Balik, company president. She retired in 2017 after 34 years with the company.

McGrory Glass

Erin Bellis and Bobby Chestnut have taken on new positions within McGrory Glass, both within the architectural, fire-rated and security glazing divisions.

Bellis is now a senior architectural sales representative. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and a Master of Education from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. She started her career in the glass industry as an estimator and later became an inside sales representative for a heavy commercial and architectural window manufacturer.

Chestnut steps into the role of senior manager, architectural products. He previously spent 15 years at Standard Bent Glass, where he first ran the metal division and then moved to an estimator position for five years. He was then promoted to sales manager for decorative glass, his position before he came to McGrory Glass. He also spent five years as a project manager for Custom Glass Corp.

In addition, Zach Passman has joined the company as architectural sales manager, Western Region, working with architectural, fire-rated and security glazing solutions. Previously, he spent 11 years with a fire-rated glass organization as a territory account manager in the Mid-Atlantic and West Coast regions.

New Hires

Morse Architectural

Bobby Thompson is Morse Architectural’s newest regional sales manager for the Southeast. Thompson has more than 25 years of experience in the metal fabrication and glazing industries.

“Morse’s team members are the best at shower hardware, railing, and metal extrusions. I’m truly excited about my new journey with Morse Architectural,” Thompson said.

GlasPro Inc.

GlasPro Inc. hired Jean Kim as executive assistant to Joe Green, CEO. Previously, she was customer service and logistics manager at Pulp Studio Inc.

She will leverage more than 20 years of glass fabrication industry experience specializing in customer service, project planning and management.
