Quanex Building Products Corporation (Quanex) announced Monday the appointment of Meredith W. Mendes to its board of directors effective immediately.

Mendes began her career as a practicing lawyer in corporate and municipal finance. She served as CFO of Hartford Computer Group and Medline Industries, and was also an investment banker at First Chicago Capital Markets prior to 1999 when she joined Daniel J. Edelman Inc. as the executive vice president and worldwide CFO until 2005. Starting in 2005, Mendes became the executive director and COO of Jenner & Block, a law firm of international reach, then in 2015 began serving as the compliance officer for finance and administration of Jenner & Block London. Mendes is a licensed CPA, holds an MBA with a finance concentration from the University of Chicago, a JD from Harvard Law School and an AB from Brown University.

Mendes serves as an independent director and member of the audit committees of Kronos Worldwide and NL Industries. She is also a vice chair of the Chicago Academy of Sciences and its Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.
