The Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA) announced a new event for the industry focusing on insulating glass (IG) fabrication. The IG Fabricator Workshop will take place March 22-24 in Plano, Texas, at the Intertek Testing facilities and will offer a mix of classroom and hands-on training.

“There are two major trends affecting the fenestration industry today,” says Margaret Webb, IGMA’s executive director. “The first trend is major turnover in plant personnel as the baby boomers are retiring, taking with them a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fabrication of insulating glass units just when that expertise is needed the most. This happens while the second trend of architects and engineers upping the game on building envelope design with unusual aesthetics, improved thermal performance, and taking into account the human factor using daylighting controls.”

Registration for the three-day event is $950 for the first attendee and $855 for each additional attendee from IG fabricators.

“This workshop is given by industry experts who know their stuff and are willing to share their expertise and knowledge using adult education principles developed for Gen X, Gen Y and Millennials to ensure that this expertise gets passed onto the next generation,” says Webb.
