Glass Expo West™ ’19 Brings Education and Holiday Cheer to San Diego, December 4-5

Glass Expo West™ ’19 is headed to the San Diego Convention Center, December 4-5, 2019, where it will provide the local glass and metal industry with networking opportunities and education.

Wednesday, December 4

Nick St. Denis, director of research for USGlass magazine parent company Key Media & Research, will open the event beginning at 8 a.m. In his “Economic Update,” St. Denis will take recent industry-specific research and provide up-to-date information on the region’s economic standing.

From 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Pulp Studio CEO Bernard Lax will inform attendees about how to identify the most common types of graphical glass products in his session, “Decorative Glass: Benefiting From Graphic Imaging (1 AIA LU).”

He will be followed by Mark Jacobson, Kuraray America’s market manager for North America, who will present “Understanding Glass Railing Codes, Specs, and Materials.”

Schüco USA president Attila Arian will highlight compelling and disruptive trends that will change how the contract glazing industry obtains, bids and executes work. His session, “C-Suite Changes Coming in the Contract Glazing Industry,” will be held from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.

The Brown Bag Lunch session, “How to Make Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Work for You,” will follow at 11:30 a.m. In this session, Kreative Webworks director of web services Chuck Bankoff and® operations manager Daniel Snow will explain how glass and glazing companies can differentiate themselves using SEO.

Glass Expo West’s keynote speaker will be body language expert Janine Driver. From 12:30 to 2 p.m., Driver’s session, “You Say More Than You Think When It Comes to Sales,” will give attendees the insight needed to more easily influence others, seize opportunities, establish rapport, negotiate business deals or detect deception.

The trade show floor will be open from 2 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. During the show hours, a Welcoming Holiday Party will be held for the glass industry from 4 to 6 p.m.

Thursday, December 5

The second day of the show will begin with “15 New Ways to Find Employees” at 8 a.m., a 15-minute overview of how to find new employees led by USGlass magazine Debra Levy.

It will be followed by Keytech North America president Lyle Hill’s seminar, “The ABC’s of Business” at 8:15 a.m. Hill will explain his 26 key business tips in this fun presentation.

From 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., attendees can learn from the seminar, “The Growing Importance of Unitized Systems (1 AIA HSW LU).” The session will help attendees recognize the advantages and disadvantages of stick built, unitized and hybrid systems.

The trade show floor will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A special session and workshop titled, “The First Five Years” will close out the show’s educational line-up. From 2 to 5 p.m., those who have owned or managed an architectural glass business for five years or less or who plan on doing so in the future, can learn from experts with more than 60 years of experience. There is no additional fee but attendees must pre-register.
