Richard Wolk, the president of Rochester Insulated Glass (RIG), died suddenly Saturday morning.

Wolk spent the majority of his life working in the glass industry. He started working for RIG at 16 years old. He worked there from its inception and continued to work there throughout his 45-year career. Wolk’s dedication and commitment is evident by the company he helped build.

Some of the major projects that Wolk was involved in include the Calgary International Airport, Howard Hughes Medical Center, high-end retail establishments around the world and numerous air traffic control towers.

Wolk’s son Tyler, will take over the leadership position and run the company which was founded by his late grandfather Stanley. Tyler Wolk worked has side-by-side with his father for more than 15 years.

The Wolk family will hold a celebration of life for Richard Wolk from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, at Young Lion Brewing Company in Canandaigua, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Christ Clarion Community School, located in Pittsford, N.Y., in memory of Richard Wolk.
