Salem Fabrication Technologies Group Inc. has acquired Glass Machinery Locator (GML), a provider of used glass equipment. Officials state that GML will become part of Salem’s Used Equipment Division, joining the company’s existing divisions, Salem Fabrication Supplies, HHH Equipment Resources and Salem FTG Capital.

Glass Machinery Locator’s updated website will allow North American fabricators to buy or sell used tempering furnaces and fabrication equipment easily, such as pre-owned sand blasting machines, laminating lines and insulating glass unit equipment.

GML’s updated website will allow North American fabricators to buy or sell used tempering furnaces and fabrication equipment easily, such as pre-owned sand blasting machines, laminating lines and insulating glass unit equipment.

“Aside from the cost, it’s always good to have a backup machine to your primary machine for high-volume fabricators,” says CEO Mike Willard. “For new fabricators getting into our industry, it is a lower cost to entry to get their shop up and running. Pre-owned equipment also allows customers to expand their product offerings outside their current offerings.”

The purchase of used equipment from GML will be backed by 24/7, U.S.-based technical expertise from HHH Equipment Resources and a full line of tooling and supplies from Salem Fabrication Supplies to complete all fabricator requirements.

GML will liaise between buyers and sellers throughout the transaction process. Existing staff at Salem Fabrication Supplies and HHH Equipment Resources will assist with developing pricing, identifying machine specs, deal communications, marketing efforts, shipping logistics, paperwork requirements, and more.

“Offering pre-owned equipment is a recession-proof move,” says Willard regarding Salem’s motivation to acquire GML. “When a recession occurs, which may be likely later this year or early next year, customers may not be able to afford new equipment; however, they can afford pre-owned equipment. We can also post pre-owned equipment from our existing customers to assist them in selling it and moving it out of their facility.”
