Sisecam is celebrating its 88th anniversary in 2023. Founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the glass and chemical company is one of the world’s top two glassware manufacturers and a top five producer of glass packaging and flat glass. It is also one of the two largest soda producers in the world.
The Turkey-based company started with a single facility in Turkey with 400 employees. Since then, it has expanded into 14 countries with a sales network of 150 countries with more than 25,000 employees.
This year has been relatively busy for Sisecam. Its chairperson, Ahmet Kirman, was recently named “Glass Person of the Year” by the Phoenix Award Committee. In an effort to expand its digital capabilities and technology prowess, it has installed digital furnace monitoring programs on all its furnaces. The programs monitor furnace health and help manufacturers make more glass with less labor. Sisecam also invested in Turkey-based technology company ICRON to transform and digitalize its value chain.
Sisecam officials say the company “considers transformation as one of the main elements of its progress and is dedicated to differentiating itself using smart technologies and competent human resources.”
