Sisecam has partnered with PaneraTech to install Digital Furnace Monitoring (DFM) globally on all its furnaces. DFM is a digital asset program designed to monitor furnace health and help manufacturers make more glass with less labor. The program creates a central corporate digital record for all health data that can be accessed anytime to predict failures and reduce maintenance costs.

Sisecam will implement the DFM program in all its furnaces over three years. Officials say each furnace will be transformed digitally and viewable through XSight software. They add the furnaces will be recorded and analyzed on the platform, including “data collected through radar technology and a regular schedule of audits.”

A PaneraTech asset manager will also be assigned to help each plant team interpret data and make decisions based on industry best practices. Officials say the combination of technology, data and expertise is what PaneraTech calls “threefold support” for each plant.

Additionally, each Sisecam furnace will have Polaris Internet of Things sensors installed for continuous refractory monitoring of critical areas. This will help the company understand early in the furnace campaign how operations impact refractory life. Early detection of issues will help Sisecam make decisions leading to an optimized furnace campaign and, ultimately, more glass produced from each furnace.
