Şişecam Group has completed its acquisition of the Sangalli Vetro Manfredonia facility in Monte Sant’Angelo, Italy. Trakya Cam Sanayii A.Ş., Şişecam Group’s company operating in flat glass manufacturing, has invested $18.2 million (Euro 15.7 million) in a second facility in Italy and doubled its production capacity in the country.

With this acquisition, our Group, Italy’s largest Turkish investor, has become one of Italy’s largest flat glass producers and has strengthened its leadership in Europe,” says Ahmet Kirman, Şişecam Group vice president and CEO.

The Sangalli Vetro Manfredonia flat glass production facility has a capacity of 190,000 tons per year, along with a laminating line with a capacity of 4 million square meters per year, a coating line with a capacity of 4 million square meters per year and a satin coating line with a capacity of 1.5 million square meters per year. In 2016, Şişecam Group also acquired the Sangalli Porto Nogaro plant of Sangalli Group located in northern Italy.

Stating that they are operating in four main business fields, namely flat glass, glassware, glass packaging and chemicals, Kırman, says, “In order to reach our global strategic goals, we are assessing both organic and inorganic growth opportunities. The acquisition of the Sangalli Vetro Manfredonia plant in Italy is also a result of our long-term and value-creating sustainable growth approach and our work in this scope.”

Şişecam Group plans to expand its product range with the help of the laminating and coating lines at the Sangalli Vetro Manfredonia plant.
