In an effort to further promote equality throughout its ranks, Şişecam has signed the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP). Şişecam officials say the decision emphasizes the importance of gender equality for its “entire ecosystem and deploy its resources to make a difference.”

WEPs are principles for businesses offering guidance on empowering women in the workplace, marketplace and community. They recognize that businesses have a stake in and responsibility for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The move is part of Şişecam’s sustainability strategy, “CareforNext.” Under the strategy, Şişecam prioritizes equality, diversity and inclusion throughout its value chain. This includes adapting factory standards for women to support their participation in the workforce.

Şişecam also aims to guide women into managerial roles with training courses and mentoring activities. Officials say the company hopes to boost the percentage of female employees from 24.2% in 2023 to more than 25% in the near future.
