Every Thursday, in conjunction with USGlass magazine’s 50th anniversary celebration, USGNN.com™ is taking a look back at past issues and highlighting advertisements, stories and images that ran throughout the publication’s half-century life. This week, let’s go to the film.

In the December 1989 issue of USGlass, Insulfilm ran an advertisement, marketing its window film product.

“You will make profits from installing window film while reducing expensive inventories of pre-manufactured tinted glass,” the ad reads, assuring potential customers that using the product to retrofit existing residential and commercial glass is “an entirely new market for you.” Insulfilm’s line included low-E, reflective, security and non-reflective.

Since then, window film has grown into the specialized niche market it is today, and these types of ads are now more reserved for USGlass’ sister publication, Window Film Magazine.
