Every Thursday, in conjunction with USGlass magazine’s 50th anniversary celebration, USGNN.com™ is taking a look back at past issues and highlighting advertisements, stories and images that ran throughout the publication’s half-century life. This week, we have the sky covered.

Throughout the history of USGlass magazine, each edition of the publication has taken on a specific theme—just like it does today. The August 1989 issue, for example was all about skylights.

The magazine touched on all aspects of that particular sector of the market: how to get an accurate skylight quote; considerations in selecting a skylight; the fundamentals of bent glass for skylights; and renovating with skylights.

Take a look at the cover:

The cover features a J&J Production Services skylight located in Dearborn, Mich. According to the inside of the magazine, it’s a custom-shaped, eight-side pyramid that spans 24 feet across and is inclined at 32 degrees. The project was fabricated by Regal Manufacturing Co. and installed and glazed by Koerts Glass & Paint of Flint, Mich.
