Every Thursday, in accordance with USGlass magazine’s 50th Anniversary celebration, USGNN.com™ is taking a look back at past issues and highlighting advertisements, stories and images that ran throughout the publication’s half-century life. This week, one company is on the move.

On the back cover of the July/August 1984 issue of USGlass magazine, CRL advertised the grand opening of its new Dallas facility.

“We moved our Texas branch into the heart of the new Dallas business and industrial district,” the 30-plus-year-old ad reads. “Why? So we can serve you from a bigger and more efficient warehouse, a spacious Will Call area that includes a place for customers to see the latest products we offer, and add room for more delivery trucks!”

CRL also let readers know to keep an eye out for their personal invitation to the grand opening, which would feature displays, product demonstrations, and, of course, a “Texas-Style Barbeque.”

“Ribs, chicken, mouth-watering corn on the cob—what’s your pleasure?” the ad reads. “… So sit back, relax and eat your fill, then dance to the country western band, and really enjoy yourself!”

CRL acquired U.S. Aluminum four years ago, further bolstering its presence in Texas.
