Viracon’s Dudley Otto passed away last Wednesday at his home. He was 76 years old.

“We have lost a dear friend and valued colleague,” says Garret Henson, Viracon’s vice president of sales and marketing. “It is a very sad day for the Viracon family, and Owatonna as well.”

Otto joined Viracon in 1987 as an architectural field representative and retired from his full-time duties in March of 2010. In September of that year, he returned to the company on a part-time basis, working with its customer service team.

“He was known as ‘Mr. Hockey’ in Owatonna for all his years of coaching the Owatonna High School hockey team, and many years of teaching in Owatonna,” says Henson. “His infectious laugh, willingness to help with everything, and always looking out for the Big ‘V’ were an inspiration to many… and made coming to work a bit brighter on a daily basis. He will be missed.”

Otto is survived by his wife Emma, children David and Mike, and grandchildren Elisabeth and Jacob. To read his full obituary and to sign the guest book, click here.
