While joining your fellow colleagues at Glass Expo West™ ’17 (GEW) June 1-2, why not extend your stay, spend a relaxed weekend and explore Orange County’s craft beer scene. Here are some of the top local brew houses just minutes away from the conference.

A North Orange County landmark, TAPS Fish House & Brewery is located in Brea downtown, and provides you with a planned atmosphere of upscale comfort. This seafood and chop house is complemented by an award winning brewery specializing in 30 to 35 traditionally brewed Belgian, English and German ales and lagers, all brewed on-site by Brewmaster David Huls. Enjoy wine more? TAPS wine list has received the prestigious Wine Spectator Magazine’s Award of Excellence for the past five years.

Backstreet Brewery, a local favorite in craft brewing, is a family run establishment with deep roots in the local community throughout Southern California. An award winning microbrewery and pub, Backstreet Brewery is set inside the well-established Lamppost Pizza and has earned a reputation for its universal craft beer appeal, atmosphere and inventive character. Grab a slice of pizza and choose from their selection of top notch IPAs and red ales.

The Evans Brewery, established in 1994, is the oldest craft brewery in Orange County and one of the oldest in all of Southern California. Located inside the McCormick and Schmick’s Restaurant at 2000 Main Street, the brewery has an annual capacity of approximately 12,000+ barrels and produces nine permanent styles with many seasonal and small batch offerings. Visit at the right time, and you can even watch the brewing process as you enjoy an Evans beer.

Lastly, be sure to check out Costa Mesa’s first-ever production brewery, Barley Forge Brewing Co., just minutes away and adjacent to some of Southern California’s best beaches. An attractive destination brewery, Barley Forge Brewing Co. crafts Belgian, West Coast and German-style beers, with a blend of traditional, recognized styles and creative twists that draw from the melting pot of cuisines and cultures of its Southern California roots. Don’t forget to grab a bite off their menu while you’re there!

  1. Another great local place is 4 Sons Brewery in Huntington Beach. The coconut amber (Coconotorious) is my favorite!
