John Kent, president of Administrative Management Systems Inc. in Sackets Harbor, New York, was recognized with the C. Gregory Carney Award during the National Glass Association’s Ann Arbor Glass Conference in Ann Arbor (Ypsilanti), Michigan. The meetings took place from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, 2025.

The award is the association’s highest honor and was established in 2014 to recognize an individual dedicated to advancing the glass and glazing industry, promoting its use and advocating for what is right for the industry.

In presenting the award, Urmilla Sowell, vice president of advocacy and technical services, described Kent as a passionate advocate for glass industry standards, best practices and certification programs. She said he has always been focused on growth and the well-being of others, and for three decades has worked to seek improvement within the industry, particularly on safety and insulating glass certification.

Kent has been a stalwart in the industry, regularly attending association meetings where he provides reports on industry collaboration, including updates from the Insulating Glass Certification Council and the Safety Glazing Certification Council.
