Jerry Haber, co-founder of W&W Glass, died on Sept. 6, 2026.

Haber’s career began in 1963 after the death of his father, William Haber, of Haber and Henry Glass and Metal Inc. Jerry Haber led Haber and Henry until 1978, when he set out to build what would become W&W Glass.

“After the New York City recession of the early 1970’s, Haber and Henry was sold to a public company,” writes Jeff Haber on LinkedIn. “Under a confluence of circumstances, that public company did not survive. In 1978, with a small loan from a local bank, Jerry and his brother, Ron Haber, established W&W Glass. It was housed in an airplane hangar at a small local airstrip with one employee, a 500 square-foot office and a 20-foot shipping container to hold inventory and supplies. The company, now employee-owned, is managed by Jerry’s sons, Michael, Jeffrey and Scott, and Ron’s son, Howard. It is consistently one of the largest glazing contractors in the United States and is the largest NYC-based glazing specialty subcontractor.”

In retirement, Jerry Haber was actively involved with District Council 9, the National Pension and Glaziers Local 1087. His commitment to union labor and the dignity of skilled work remained important to him throughout his life.

According to his obituary, Jerry Haber will be remembered not only for the life he built but for the lasting impression he left on the people around him.

“He was strong in his beliefs, generous in spirit and deeply devoted to those he loved,” his obituary reads. “His presence was one that could not be overlooked, and his absence will be deeply felt. The life he lived and the example he set will remain a part of his family for generations to come. We know he will continue to enjoy extra rare steaks, West Highland White Terriers and 18 more holes of golf.”

Funeral services will be held at Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel, W-150 Route 4 East, Paramus, New Jersey, on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., followed by a burial service for immediate family members only at Wellwood Cemetery in West Babylon, New York.

The family requests that, in lieu of food or gifts, donations be made to the American Heart Association, St. Jude’s or the American Cancer Society.
