Every Thursday, in conjunction with USGlass magazine’s 50th anniversary celebration, USGNN.com™ is taking a look back at past issues and highlighting advertisements, stories and images that ran throughout the publication’s half-century life. This week, we look at the November 1988 issue.

First, in the law column, the topic back then really shows a sign of the times: “The Rights of Smokers and Non Smokers in the Workplace.” Today, USGlass has covered everything from the legalization of marijuana in some states to the impact same-sex marriage could have on businesses—things are definitely different now.

This was also the issue where USGlass started heavily covering shower doors, showing its influence in the market, a trend that continues. This product category still provides many opportunities for glass companies.

That issue also had an ad from Palmer Mirror-Mastic and featured industry mainstay Shirley Palmer Ball who has since passed away. USGlass, and many in the industry, remember him and miss him greatly.

  1. How ’bout some love for an LOF, Spectrum (LOF’s successor) , or Interpane glass ads, firms that are no longer in play?
