Every Thursday leading up to USGlass magazine’s 50th Anniversary celebration this month, USGNN.com™ is taking a look back at past issues and highlighting advertisements, stories and images that ran throughout the publication’s half-century life. This week, it’s down to the wire.

Here’s something you don’t see anymore—an advertisement on wired glass. This one, by Pilkington, ran in the September/October 1984 issue of USGlass magazine.

The topic of wired glass has been a hot one in the industry over the last couple years, with work currently being done in Canada to update the building codes and safety glazing standard. United States building codes ban the use of wired glass in hazardous areas in new construction, though efforts are still being made to push for more stringent enforcement of safety glazing standards.

USGlass has reported extensively on the topic, on USGNN.com™ and in the print magazine.
