They want to develop the worldwide market for unusual glass architecture together: Giuseppe Bergamin, managing director of Sunglass Industry s.r.l. (Villafranca/Region Padua) and Bernhard Veh, managing director of sedak GmbH & Co. KG (Gersthofen/Bayern).

Sedak has bought a stake in Italian company Sunglass Industry s.r.l.. Sunglass fabricates curved architectural glass using a hot bending technique. Sedak uses cold bending to fabricate large-format glass up to 3.51 by 20 meters.

“These fields of expertise complement each other excellently. We have thereby rounded off our product portfolio perfectly, enabling us to extend our top position as a full-service supplier,” says sedak managing director Bernhard Veh.

According to sedak, Sunglass will have access to the preliminary production stages for oversize glass panes.

“The merger allows us to extend our hot bending competence gradually to the large sedak sizes,” says Veh.

“Sunglass has developed innovative technologies for bent architectural glass. Together with sedak we are looking forward to bring this competence to the new maximum formats,” adds Giuseppe Bergamin, managing director of Sunglass Industry.
